Inital Designs

AR Heads

One of the functions of the mobile product the ‘Prezset’ is to allow those that look through the visor AR headset to see the 3D character heads instead of the people faces in the room. This is to help those that have difficulty with presenting, while also adding a fun element to the product. The AR will work using a camera on the side of the ‘Prezset’ which will detect and track a person’s face. It would then automatically place a character’s head on the people in the room. You shall be able to change between the different heads shown.

Making 3D character

I used Maya when building the 3D character, starting first by making a cubed shape for the leg, arm and torso. The head I had previously made for the mobile device designs, which I connected to this and built a human face for. The character is not a realistic design but appears real enough for the promotional video that will be made to show off the product. When making the face for the character I just wanted to make the key features such as the eyes, nose and mouth, so it comes across more human yet retain a stylised and simple style. After this I joined the different parts together using the combine and bridge tools.

Developing a 3D Environment

For the environment I was tasked with building a classroom scene that will appear in the animated video for the product. The reason for this is that the product is a presentation tool, with its prime area of use being for students in the classroom. From what I had learnt from building the city scene is how to create a realistic lighting and construct an environment using the pro builder. I had put together a classroom using the tools from pro builder and then added a natural lighting that came through the windows of the room.

Building Environment Assets

When it came to building assets for the environment of the scene, I learnt that you can build them in Maya and then place it into a scene in Unity. That is what I have done here with some of the assets that I have made for the classroom scene.

Animated Video

For the animated video I was tasked with, I combined my 3D character with the environment of the classroom to create a short animation. The character wears the product the ‘Prezset’ and the camera rotates around it until it transitions to the character looking at the people in the classroom. It would then show how the product works looking through the visor of the headset.
